Jazz pianist/vocalist returns to Rock Hill for Come See Me Festival Special 50th Year Celebration
Rock Hill, SC: Jazz pianist/composer/vocalist Marc Hoffman will perform with his quartet Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Glencairn Gardens in Rock Hill, SC as part of the 50th Annual Come See Me Festival. Joining Marc will be saxophonist Patrick Brown, bassist Tim Hartis, and drummer Brent Deaton.
Hoffman is well known throughout the Southeast US, having appeared at clubs, arenas, and other venues. Marc also performs nationally and internationally for music festivals and other events, and has entertained crowds at the North Charleston Coliseum in Charleston SC; Speedway Motorsports Inc. and the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center, both in Charlotte; the Annual Old Town Blues & Jazz Festival in Rock Hill, SC; and outside the US in the UK and The Netherlands.
In keeping with the 50th year theme for this year's Come See Me Festival, Marc and the quartet will perform jazz from the early 1960s exclusively. “The 1950s and '60s comprise one of the most significant eras of jazz,” Hoffman says, “and specifically latin jazz from artists and composers such as Jobim and Gilberto. It's great fun performing jazz from this era both as a singer and a pianist.”
“It's a treat to return to Rock Hill,” Hoffman says. “Many thanks to the festival organizers for inviting us and to SCBT for the sponsorship.”
(This performance is sponsored by Sponsored by South Carolina Bank & Trust of the Piedmont.)
