Mané Fernandes is a young guitarist from Oporto, Portugal, and has just recorded his debut album as a leader—BounceLab.

This project came up during the final stage of Mané's degree in ESMAE (Oporto), which was granted a 20/20 in his final recital.

There are two sides of his project BounceLab: one of improvised music, mainly influenced by jazz tradition, and another of groove / beat / transe / repetition which reflects both popular North Amercian music of the XX century and contemporary electronic music, such as hip-hop, drum'n'bass and dubstep.

The record has four original compositions (one of them a suite), an arrangement of a Sam Rivers' tune and two tracks of improvisation—took out of eight improvisations recorded, which can be heard has a bonus for buying the record.

There's also a side to this musician related to the improvisation and the spontaneous reactions on-stage that are achieved from his weekly attendance to various jam sessions in Oporto. This grants the proximity to the public, the positive connection with the unexpected and the truthful way of sharing music, which clearly defines BounceLab.

The record will be released by Carimbo Porta-Jazz this Wednesday - 5th November - in Oporto, and the expectations are very high!
