MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA RELEASES LIMITED EDITION EP Let My Pride Be What's Left Behind

BAND RECORDING NEW ALBUM WITH JOE CHICARELLI AT BLACKBIRD STUDIOS
END OF YEAR HEADLINE TOUR CONFIRMED

Manchester Orchestra
Canvasback Music/Favorite Gentlemen Recordings is proud to announce the release of a new EP/DVD from Manchester Orchestra entitled Let My Pride Be What's Left Behind, available via independent retail only (see thinkindie.com for a list of participating stores) on October 14. This EP/DVD combo will feature the never before released “What's Left Behind" documentary film directed by Sam Erickson of 44 Pictures, three live tracks, and two brand new songs. The first track on the EP, “I Can Feel A Hot One" will be prominently featured in the September 15 episode of The CW's “Gossip Girl."

Let My Pride Be What's Left Behind continues the band's progression and signature sound that was lauded on the 2006 debut album I'm Like A Virgin Losing A Child; powerful melodies synched with poignant lyrics. The short-form documentary was filmed and edited by Erickson (My Morning Jacket's “Okonokos" and Dave Matthews “Live At Radio City") and explores the close bond between the band members on tour and highlights the constant themes of life, happiness, religion and death; threads that are echoed throughout the music and lyrics that make up the fabric of Manchester Orchestra.

Starting this week at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN, the making of the sophomore album, officially titled Mean Everything To Nothing, gets underway. Co-produced by Joe Chicarelli (The Shins, My Morning Jacket and Manchester Orchestra), this record will be the next large step for a band Rolling Stone praised as being “expansive in scope and rich in texture, even while remaining lyrically focused on small moments of revelation." The making of the album will continue at Tree Sounds Studios in Atlanta through October, with mixing by Chiccarelli set for Sunset Sound in Los Angeles this November. Tentative release for Mean Everything To Nothing is slated for early 2009. It has already been pegged by Alternative Press magazine as one of the “Most Anticipated" records for 2009.

In the past year, Manchester Orchestra has played major USA festivals, including Coachella and Lollapalooza. Upcoming for this Fall is The Voodoo Experience in New Orleans on October 25. Keeping with their busy schedule, Manchester Orchestra has also secured a string of tour dates, set to begin in Carrboro, NC, on November 28 and come to a close on December 20 in hometown Atlanta, GA. Accompanying them throughout all dates will be Kevin Devine as well as Dead Confederate. All Get Out will open the entire tour in support of their self-titled EP, available November 25.

In related news, Manchester Orchestra frontman Andy Hull will be releasing the second installment of his epic solo-project Right Away, Great Captain! The Eventually Home was listed in the September issue of Paste magazine as “The Best of What's Next" by saying: “Drawing lyrics from diary entries of a fictitious 17th-century sailor, Hull and his collaborators carve themselves a poignant hole between the worlds of music and literature, where the solitude of the sea proves beautiful, haunting and human. Imagine if Hemingway had created “The Old Man and the Sea" as a musical project set to an acoustic guitar and you'll get the idea." The Eventually Home will be available November 11. Also an indie-retail exclusive through thinkindie.com stores, the album will be released on Favorite Gentlemen Recordings, the label founded and run by Hull and Manchester Orchestra drummer Jeremiah Edmond.
