Latin Jazz Grooves Features Interviews, Lessons, Practice Exercises, and Bonus Concert Footage

Boston, Mass., February 23, 2004 – One of today’s finest Latin jazz artists, Mexican-born vibraphonist and composer Victor Mendoza, has just released Latin Jazz Grooves, a practical approach to helping musician's develop their vocabulary and skills playing rhythms and common chord progressions in this rich musical style.

No matter what instrument a student plays, they will be able to use Victor’s techniques and tips to capture the rhythms and harmonies of Latin Jazz and apply it to their playing. The DVD features a number of exercises and looped rhythms that enable students to practice and play-along with Victor until they have mastered each lesson. As an added bonus, Latin Jazz Grooves contains exclusive concert footage of the renowned Victor Mendoza Group, spotlighting the musical prowess of Victor, Eguie Castrillo, Fernando Huergo, Rafael Alcalá, and Pablo Bencid.

Latin Jazz Grooves enables students to learn how to effectively incorporate Latin patterns including: Son Clave, Rumba Clave, Cascara, and Tumbao.

“As a teacher, composer, arranger, talent scout and activist in the knowledge, study and development of what we call today “Latin Jazz", Victor Mendoza is one of the most valuable."
- Paquito D'Rivera

“Whether it be a steaming Latin jazz piece, or a quiet solo introspection, Victor brings intelligence and finesse to his music."
