There will be a reunion of one of the finest organ jazz trios to emerge in the past 20 years at Vitellos Jazz & Supper Club Friday & Saturday February 18th & 19th 2011. The original “Larry Goldings Trio" will do two nights of concerts Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm & 10pm and a morning Study Group and lunch hang on February 18, 2011. We're talking about that heavyweight of the Hammond B-3, Larry Goldings, along with scintillating guitarist Peter Bernstein and that little old groove-digger Bill Stewart on drums. This is the group that cut the classic Big Stuff CD for Warner Brothers in 1996—don't be surprised if they bring “Ida Lupino" and Duke Ellington's “Purple Gazelle" out of storage for a serious workout. This empathetic organ trio forged its chemistry in a regular weekly gig at Augie's, a bar on New York's Upper West Side. Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart and have been performing and recording as an organ trio for over twenty years. During the clinic on they will discuss a range of topics unique to our experience as a group, such as group interplay, interpreting standards, and finding a group sound. We will welcome any specific questions from the audience. Larry Goldings says “I think teaching by example is often as effective (if not more effective) than talking, so we Will, of course, play in an effort to demonstrate the topics that come up." $50 (includes Study Group, Buffet lunch, tax , tip ).
