Los Angeles Music Academy to Offer Associate of Arts Degree in Music Production Sean Halley Named Music Production Department Chair

Pasadena, CA:
Los Angeles Music Academy College of Music (www.lamusicacademy.edu) announced that beginning in Spring 2011, it will offer an Associate of Arts in Music Production Degree. The program focuses on managing the production process as a whole, and will immerse students in more than 25 classes that provide the tools and techniques they need to become successful music producers. Sean Halley, Department Chair, says the program is the only one of its kind and was created to meet the expanding needs and demands of music students who want to do more than master a musical instrument.

“We believe that this is a great way to increase opportunities for our students to succeed with a career in today's competitive music industry," says Halley. “We foresee expanding and connecting our graduate network of instrumentalists with those involved with every role of music production—all under one roof. Students will also benefit from tapping into one of the world's biggest music production communities here in Los Angeles."

Students must demonstrate exceptional skills and potential to be admitted to the program. Smaller class sizes offer an intimate setting with one on one faculty attention. Joining Halley are music industry professionals and current faculty who are widely known for their musical talents and achievements. “Our instructors can provide students with real world experiences and challenges and assist them with guidance for career advancement once they graduate," says Halley.

The curriculum is designed to wrap a broad range of courses together, covering music, technology, engineering, multi-instrumental skills and the business. “Electives allow students to achieve specific goals," says Halley. “The Music Production Degree includes Pro Tools certification, which is awarded after completing the Pro Tools 100 and 110 classes." Other courses offered include Studio Management, Drum Programming, Arranging for Producers, Engineering, Midi, Signal Processing, Styles and Genre, Producer's Survival Course, History, Microphone Technology, Working with Picture, Songwriting, as well as Drums, Strings and Vocals for Producers.
