Kyle Turner Band With Special Guest Lee Langston July 20 At The Blue Room

This Friday the Blue Room Jazz Club at the American Jazz Museum welcomes The Kyle Turner Band with special guest Lee Langston.

Kyle Turner is a native of Houston, TX. During Kyle’s college years at Jackson State University and at Texas Southern University he won numerous awards for his musical talents. He is now known regionally and nationally for his sultry sound. In addition to his accomplishments as a saxophonist, Turner has actively promoted jazz music and created opportunities for artists in the Houston area and beyond, taking several young musicians under his wing. He was the Artist in Residence at Texas Southern University for a time and has also been honored in the 2008 and 2010 editions of “Who’s Who in Black Houston."

Lee Langston is a Kansas City native known for his neosoul music and tribute shows to artists such as Erykah Badu and Lauren Hill. He has performed with local gospel groups such as the St. James United Methodist Voices of Pride choir for several years. As of late he’s become known for his performance with the neosoul group Prototype.

Kristen Ramsdale is a junior at the University of Kansas majoring in Illustration. She is serving as the Design Standards/Collateral intern in the marketing department at the American Jazz Museum. Her role includes designing promotional posters for Blue Room events such as this upcoming performance.
