(SAVANNAH, Georgia) Kokopelli's Jazz Club and Restaurant has been selected as the venue for the Savannah Jazz Festival Kick-Off event which will be held on Sunday, September 23rd from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The area's best jazz musicians join with nationally based jazzbos for this event which traditionally has been the beginning of “Jazz Week" in Savannah.
The Savannah Jazz Festival is organized and presented by the Coastal Jazz Association with major support provided by the City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs.
Kokopelli's is located at 107 W. Broughton Street in downtown Savannah. The jazz club opened last year and routinely features national jazz performers.
In addition to hosting the Savannah Jazz Festival Kick-Off, Kokopelli's will also be the site of pre-festival events on Monday (September 24) and Tuesday (September 25). These events begin at 8:00 pm.
On festival days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (September 27, 28 & 29) The Coastal Jazz Association and Kokopelli's will feature national, regional and local jazz and blues performers in a series of “jam sessions" after the festival evenings end at Forsyth Park. The jam sessions begin at 11:00 pm.
All Savannah Jazz Festival events are free.
