Kennedy Center Announces Jazz Schedule

The Manhattan Transfer The John F. Kennedy Center For the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., has announced its jazz programs for the 201-2012 season.

Along with concerts, the center will present “Swing, Swing, Swing" Nov. 11-26, 2011, which is a series of ticketed and free shows and events celebrating the swing era.

Other events include a meeting of Manhattan Transfer and Jon Hendricks to celebrate Hendricks' 90th birthday on Nov. 20. Roy Haynes will perform at the center on Oct. 14, Steve Wilson will pay tribute to Charlie Parker's Bird With Strings on Oct. 7 and 8 and Bill Charlap and Renee Rosnes will appear on March 3, 2012.
