"Piano trio music, of the kind that we perform anyway, is a very complex musical journey and as you say subtle, like the wings of a butterfly. We love to use dynamics and as you will remember, there are also places in the arrangements where we play quite powerfully. If there is a noisy audience, it nearly always works to play quieter not louder to gain their attention. This is a proven fact and has been used by many top musicians e.g. Ray Brown, Jeff Hamilton and many others. I do feel that there should always be room for serenity in life and it is even more important in today's noisy and busy world to find these oasis of calm. It is good for the physical and spiritual sides of human nature and makes people less aggressive."

The Marian Petrescu Trio has surprised the Sibiu Jazz Festival with a great performance. Keith Hall, the trio's drummer, shares some of his thoughts about Sibiu, the Sibiu festival, and the fate of jazz music: Keith Hall Interview.
