The American Jazz Museum at 18th & Vine in Kansas City, Missouri will present its annual Rhythm & Ribs Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday, October 8, 2011. The one day event features headliners Christian McBride & Inside Straight (Artist-In-Resident); the legendary Bobby “Blue" Bland (Blues Headliner); and, the band WAR (Festival Headliner).

The all-day event will feature three great performance stages presenting a variety of exceptional jazz and blues artist talent, education components and food vendors that include famous Kansas City Bar-B-Q. Local, regional, national and international talent will perform.

Christian McBride (born May 31, 1972, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American jazz bassist. His father, Lee Smith, and his great uncle, Howard Cooper, are well known Philadelphia bassists who served as McBride's early mentors. In the jazz community, McBride is widely considered to be one of the best bassists of his generation

Robert Calvin Bland (born January 27, 1930) better known as Bobby Blue Bland, is an American singer of blues and soul. He is an original member of The Beale Streeters. and is sometimes referred to as the “Lion of the Blues." Along with such artists as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, and Junior Parker, Bland developed a sound that mixed gospel with the blues and R&B.

Funk band War were formed in 1969 when the disillusioned singer of rock band The Animals, Eric Burdon, met a band called Nightshift in Los Angeles and suggested a united project. The debut album Eric Burdon Declares “War" contained “Spill The Wine," an international hit that made their name. But Burdon left the band shortly after second album The Black Man's Burdon (1970), due to exhaustion from touring. The rest of the band carried on without him. A self-titled album didn't succeed, but All Day Music (1971) did—it included two minor hits and sold over a million copies.
