The Dizzy Gillespie legacy lives on! His daughter, vocalist Jeanie Bryson, brings her acclaimed evening to Tribeca Performing Arts Center on Nov 30 and Dec 1 at 8 pm. Jeanie Bryson, whose extraordinary singing voice is at once reminiscent of Billie Holiday and Peggy Lee, is also uniquely modern, original and inviting. With her own quintet where she features her velvety, sultry sound and impeccable phrasing, Bryson will present her newest project, The Dizzy Gillespie Songbook", a loving tribute that celebrates her father's life, his music, and his legacy. Jeanie's concert songlist runs from the playful Umbrella Man" and Ooh Bop Sh' Bam", to timeless ballads like Lover Man" and I Can't Get Started", to Gillespie originals such as A Night In Tunisia" and Birks Works".
