Originally a spin-off from Yiddish Summer Weimar, Winter Edition has taken on its own life and identity as a festival/institute for music improvisation, the voice, the body and awareness. Under the direction of Alan Bern and with an outstanding international faculty, the atmosphere of Winter Edition is at the same time interdisciplinary, holistic, intensive, inspiring and rigorous.

In 2010, Winter Edition expands from one to two weeks: January 23 - February 7. In the first week, three short workshops take place: Django and Manouche Jazz with Tcha Limberger (Romania); Estill Technique Level One with Tom Burke (New York); Improvisation I: Intro/Review with Cesar Lerner and Marcelo Moguilevsky (Buenos Aires) and Alan Bern (Berlin). During the second week, the five teachers join together to lead an advanced, integrated, weeklong workshop in improvisation, the voice, the body and awareness; Improvisation II: Beyond the comfort zone.

Come to Winter Edition 2010 and join with musicians from North and South America, West and East Europe in an intensive exploration of your musical potential and boundaries!
