GROUPS

Josean Jacobo & Tumbao, is a quartet of excellent young tigers from the Dominican Republic that play mostly original compositions that are considered to be ¨Latin Jazz Nouveau¨; playing Straight-ahead Jazz, Latin, Afro-Dominican Fusions (rhythms such as Merengue, Pambiche, Palos, Gaga and others in excellent fusions with jazz). This group has played in the Gwadloup Festival (Guadeloupe); World Jazz Circuit Latin America, Santo Domingo Jazz Festival and Las Terrenas Jazz Festival, amongst others.

Alex Diaz & his Merengue Jazz is a quintet of very well known jazz musicians from New York, under the leadership of Dominican Conga player Alex Diaz. Alex has played with Tito Puente, Mario Rivera, Mario Bauza, Dizzy Gillespie and many more. His format is marrying jazz and merengue in a very tasteful way – taking jazz standards into merengue rhythms and tempos, and vice-versa. Their latest album – Beyond 145th Street – has received excellent reviews

The venue chosen for the event is CUBAOCHO Art & Research Center, a rich hispanic heritage will surround a beautiful evening of Jazz which will make it into the ideal scenario for the concert.
