Jazz lovers can experience living history through Metro Connection, a collection of professional jazz greats living and playing throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties.
The musicians bring lifetimes of passionate showmanship and dedication to their shows.
The ensemble usually plays a variety of jazz standards Tuesday evenings at the Bacalao Sports Grill and Lounge in Sarasota, but on Sept. 21 the performers will give a special concert at the Glenridge Performing Arts Center for local fans and members of the Jazz Club of Sarasota.
The performance will feature group founder Greg Lecewicz on his trombone, horn player Bill Carmichael, pianist Eddie Tobin, vocalist Gigi Bass, stand-up bass player Sherrell McCants, drummer Lenny Balistreri, vocalist Phil Picciotti and trumpeter Jim Earp.
Lecewicz's musical career started at an early age in Poland. After graduating from the Academy of Music in Warsaw, he was a principal trombonist for the Warsaw Radio Studio S1 big band.
