The Music of Bobby Avey: A Solo Concert

New York, NY—Bobby Avey, pianist & composer will be the first to present at Turtle Bay Music School's innaugural Jazz Series featuring some of New York's premier Jazz “up-and-comers." Bobby will present a first-rate concerts followed by a Q&A session. The Jazz Series is Thursday, April 14th at 9pm, free-of-charge and open to the public.

Pianist and composer Bobby Avey recently released his first record as a leader, A New Face. Bobby is a graduate of the Purchase Conservatory of Music where he was awarded the esteemed Presser Scholarship, and in 2006 was named the International Yamaha Young Performing Artist on piano. Music critic Ken Dryden writes, “Avey deserves recognition as one of the most promising musicians of his generation."

We welcome at-the-door contributions of any amount to help ensure that all of our students achieve their greatest musical potential through the activities and programs that our school offers.

Since its founding in 1925, Turtle Bay Music School has fostered love and knowledge of music by providing high quality musical instruction and a range of related music programs and activities to motivated students of all ages, backgrounds and levels of ability. More than 900 children and adults from all walks of life study 20 instruments and voice. Those in financial need receive assistance from the TBMS Scholarship Fund. Additionally, our public school outreach programs bring music into the lives of New York City Public School students from Harlem to the Lower East Side, while our new music initiative, the Saturday Music Project, provides free music education to young students with little or no access to arts instruction. Hospital patients and members of senior centers also gain a vital link to the city's cultural energy through faculty performances.
