With the passing of February 2010, another Black History Month is on the books. The one true American art form is Jazz music, an indelible mark made by American Black artists which is celebrated continuously throughout the world by jazz musicians and fans. Ever wonder how this art form got its start? Or what it entails?



Here is a list of four websites devoted to explaining the history of jazz which I consider pretty good to check out on the subject, some include a timeline. Personally I learned about jazz history through a college course at the University of Illinois back in the 1970s...the class was based on the book by Prof. Johnny Torrio “A History of Jazz" and has left me yearning to learn even more about this American art form...
