Jazz for Peace to Hold Special Benefit Concert in Seattle

JAZZ FOR PEACE TO HOLD SPECIAL BENEFIT CONCERT

Seattle, WA - On Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 4:30PM, New York-based Jazz for Peace featuring internationally acclaimed jazz pianist, vocalist and composer Rick DellaRatta, will host a benefit concert to raise funds on behalf of Community Empowerment Network. This event is part of an extensive US tour for Jazz for Peace.

The benefit will take place at Tula's Jazz Club 2214 Second Avenue in Seattle. Tickets will be $30.00 at the door and are available online at www.jazzforpeace.org. Tickets purchased online will be available at the door prior to the event.

On September 25, 2002 The Joshua Foundation, along with the United States Mission to the UN, co-sponsored the first Jazz for Peace concert featuring world renowned jazz pianist and vocalist Rick DellaRatta at the United Nations in New York City. This concert is now recognized worldwide as “one of the single most significant cultural events of our time" and has led to a benefit concert series that has raised funds, awareness and publicity for over 350 organizations.

Jazz For Peace, founded in 2002, is working to continue the benefit concert series, expanding its performances around the globe; to bring jazz back into the schools and expose Americans to one of its greatest art forms; and to donate musical instruments to underprivileged children and schools. Over the past year, Jazz For Peace has played concerts across many of the finest jazz venues in the United States for numerous non-profit organizations and garnered support and praise from distinguished Americans such as Senator John McCain, Congressman Dennis Kucinich, activist Noam Chomsky.

Community Empowerment Network mission is to assist rural communities in developing countries acquire skills, technology and other resources that empower them to address their development objectives in a proactive, independent, and sustainable manner. We also work to help communities engage local partners in their development initiatives, serving as a mentor in the cooperative process and the utilization of information and communications technology.
