Jazz Bridge 2012-2013 Concert Schedule

The 2012-2013 Jazz Bridge concert schedule promises to be among the most exciting in its history, with 40 events in five venues, featuring almost 200 world-class jazz instrumentalists, vocalists, composers and arrangers, with an emphasis on original music.

At the Collingwood Community Center, 30 Collings Avenue in Collingwood, New Jersey: Saxophonist/flutist/arranger/scat singer Denis DiBlasio on October 4th, bassist Andy Lalasis November1st, saxophonist Sam Reed on December 5th, trumpeter Fred Adams and the Philadelphia Heritage Art Ensemble on February 7th, saxophonist Bob Pollitt’s Quartet March 7th, jazz harpist Gloria Galante April 4th, and vocalist Barbara Montgomery May 2nd.

In Media at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Delaware County, 145 West Rose Tree Road: Singer Michael Andrews October 17th, percussionist Francois Zayas November 21st, pianist “Father John” D’Amico December 19th, pianist Luke Carlos O’Reilly on January 16th, flutist Marc Adler February 20th, pianist Dave Posmontier on March 20th, vibraphonist Tony Miceli and violinist Diane Munro April 17th, and singer Pearl Williams on May 15th.

At the Arch Street Friends Meeting House, 4th and Arch Street in Philadelphia: Pianist Jim Ridl and trumpeter Terrell Stafford October 18th, singer Ella Gahnt on November 15th, saxophonist Bobby Zankel December 20th, saxophonist Larry McKenna January 17th, pianist Tom Lawton February 21st, drummer Alan Nelson March 21st, guitarist Greg Matthews April 18th, and singer Kevin Valentine on May 16th.

In Cheltenham, at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, 439 Ashbourne Road: Drummer Leon Jordan October 3rd, saxophonist Tony Williams November 7th, singer Jill Salkin December 5th, bassist Ed Wise and his New Orleans Jazz Band on January 2nd, singer Paula Johns February 6th, bassist Nimrod Speaks on March 6th, singer Denise Montana April 3rd, and singer Kitty Mayo on May 1st.

At the Kennett Flash in Kennett Square, 102 Sycamore Alley: Bassist Lee Smith on October 3rd, pianist Terri Kleinfelter on November 7th, bassist Tyrone Brown December 5th, saxophonist Dave Wilson on January 2nd, saxophonist Ricky Tate, Jr. February 6th, Hot Club of Philadelphia on March 6th, drummer Eddie Jones April 3rd, and singer Sherri Butler on May 1st.

Jazz Bridge, founded by jazz singers Suzanne Cloud and Wendy Simon-Sinkler, is a 501C3 public charity that helps area jazz and blues musicians in crisis. Jazz Bridge employs in the neighborhood of 200 artists each year, presents these artists at unique and underused neighborhood venues, and injects funds into the community’s economy each and every season.
