Japanese Label Denon Releases Major Jazz Recordings from Archive of Classic Content: Select recordings will be available worldwide for the first time on all digital services

LOS ANGELES, March 24, 2010: Japanese label Denon, a sub-label of Columbia Music Entertainment (CME), the oldest recording company in Japan, has released select albums from their archives to be available for the first time digitally throughout the world. BFM Digital, a leading digital distributor of independent music, will be distributing the content.

Throughout the 70's and 80's, Denon released a plethora of recordings by world-renowned jazz artists to the Japanese market. These recordings, from artists such as McCoy Tyner, Sonny Stitt, Elvin Jones, Eliane Elias and Bob Berg quickly became known within the jazz community and abroad, receiving critical acclaim.

A few of the recordings now available include: Soul Train, Elvin Jones -- Jazz Machine; Our Man, Papa Jo! -- Jo Jones; Double Trios -- McCoy Tyner; Illusions -- Eliane Elias; In the Shadows -- Bob Berg; The Art Of The Saxophone -- Bennie Wallace

Until now, these albums have only been available in Japan or as imports elsewhere. On March 23rd, they will be available for the first time on digital services worldwide through a strategic partnership between CME and BFM Digital.

“It's well known by jazz fans everywhere that Japan has a treasure trove of these classic recordings. Their availability to the world market has been long anticipated, and fans can look forward to more as we've just begun to scratch the surface of these archives," says Michele Ito, VP of Label Relations at BFM Digital.
