And many great invited guests

We are proud to announce that Hector's latest CD, REFUGEE (Zoho Music) has been nominated for a GRAMMY in the category of best Latin Jazz album. The album has been receiving overwhelmingly good reviews. DOWN BEAT's review, in it's November issue, is excellent: Martignon's witty conception... pairs tunes that sequentially bookend each other. Time shifts, brisk turnarounds and bounding rhythms flash by with... dry bravado...it's a likable mix. Martignon solos with crisp invention, and breathily sings his heartfelt “Observatory". One of the major Jazz publications (we're not YET allowed to say which) has chosen REFUGEE as one of the best CDs of 2007.

On December 20th, 9:30 PM FOREIGN AFFAIR will be celebrating the Holidays and our nomination for a GRAMMY at the legendary Nuyorican Poets Caf, 3rd Street between avenues B and C. There will be a huge Jam Session at the end. Please come and share with us!

At the end of January Hector will travel to his native Colombia to take part in one of Latin America's most important Jazz Education events at the FERNANDO SOR ACADEMY along with other great musicians like drummer Horacio “Negro" Hernandez, bassist Armando Gola and guitarist Vinny Valentino. Besides conducting workshops and conferences for 5 straight days they will perform in several cities of Colombia. More concerts are being scheduled in Medellin, Barranquilla and Cali.

November started with a one-nighter in Miami with Hector Martignon's Jazz Trio with Armando Gola (b) and Ludwig Afonso (dr),during the city's first SLEEPLESS NIGHT Festival. The setting was the Bass Museum of Modern Art. It was a night full of magic all over town! We hope it's only the first of many such events. Thanks to Kimberly Chmura of KCC Productions.

Hector and FOREIGN AFFAIR completed a 10 day-6 dates tour of three European countries, Spain, Italy and Germany, playing at major Jazz festivals as well as intimate Jazz clubs and even a solo recital by Hector at the prestigious PH Ludwigsburg University playing classical and contemporary music.

Arriving to New York Hector's Jazz Trio, featuring Edward Perez (b) and Ludwig Afonso (dr) played the late set for a week at the breathtakingly beautiful DIZZY'S COCA COLA Jazz club to a highly receptive and enthusiastic audience. We started December performing at the already traditional ENCUENTRO de msicos Colombianos, a yearly showcase with the best Colombian groups and musicians. Every year the level of musicianship gets better and better. More bands participate. It's becoming a new factor to take into consideration in New York's Jazz scene. Congratulation to Anna and Pablo Mayor!

Hal Leonard has released to the market the instructional book/CD, SALSA PIANO BOOK, it commissioned Hector to write. It is already available online and will be available on stores starting January.
