DIONNE FARRIS HEADLINES FIRST-EVER URB ALT FESTIVAL IN HARLEM, NYC SET FOR SUMMER 2006

URB ALT Festival Plays Historic Harlem Venues including The Apollo Theater and The Schomburg Center in June, July, August and September.

NEW YORK - URB ALT, the performance series dedicated to presenting the cutting edge of music and film, is taking a revolutionary step forward in creating the URB ALT FESTIVAL: URB ALT COMES TO HARLEM with four special nights spread out over the Summer beginning in June and ending in September. Each night of the festival will take place in a historic Harlem venue including The Apollo Theater, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, The FaisonFirehouse Theater and Alfred Lerner Hall at Columbia University. The bills will feature rising underground artists opening for exciting major headliners.

The URB ALT Festival has the honor of heralding the long awaited return of Grammy-nominated artist Dionne Farris, whose first studio album in 12 years, Signs of Life, will be released in late summer. Ms. Farris, famed for her award-winning songs “Hopeless (Like A Penny) and “I Know," will headline the first show of the Summer festival on June 10 at The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Tickets for each show are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door, except for the September 9 Apollo Theater Show in which prices will slightly vary.

The URB ALT Festival is enthusiastically donating part of the proceeds from each event to the charity VH1 Save The Music. This relationship will allow the festival to provide cash, supplies and musical instruments to Harlem specific public school arts programs. VH1 Save The Music has a strong history of execution and accounting for fundraising events beneficial to the youth of urban and rural communities.

URB ALT FESTIVAL: URB ALT COMES TO HARLEM is a joint production of BossTon Communications, Girls On...Productions and Odd Endeavors Productions.
