Gourmet Duo Plus' new album Live in Tallinn (Jazzkaar Festival 2011) is a delicate yet bold fine offering of more than a feast for the senses - all of them.

The name of the band makes one hungry for all the great delicacies. Emotions spill out with the great American Songbook cover “Love Letters." In the background one can hear the clink of silverware on china and it feels like the music just improves the meal. Just the image of fine dining and such soothing music evokes the luxury of the privileged, yet wonderfully all are invited. The piano and bass establish a magnificent interchange that carries everywhere.

The live presentation is uniquely inviting as one feels included in all the songs even when the meanings are not clear as the case is with “Kord Hell, Kord Julm."

On “Koop Island Blues," one cannot help feeling for the beautiful damsel-in-distress. Lonely and distant yet powerful, recalling Aretha Franklin’s “Don’t Play That Song." Within the album this track echoes another track, “It’s Alright With Me." Same story, same build-up yet vocalist Yvetta Uustalu outdoes the latter with a Bobby McFerrin-like “Invocation."

“Just You, Just Me" has excellent percussions and a very pronounced beat, making one thirst for more of this Sade-like music.
