George Caldwell has toured the world with the premier jazz orchestras of our time. He followed Mulgrew Miller into the Duke Ellington Orchestra (3 yrs. under the direction of Mercer Ellington), he played with the Savoy Sultans at the Rainbow Room (1 1/2 yr. under the direction of leader and drummer David 'Panama' Francis) and the Count Basie Orchestra (7 yrs. under the direction of the great Frank Foster as well as Grover Mitchell). A partial listing of the many great artists he has shared the bandstand with includes Dizzy Gillespie, George Benson, Quincy Jones, Joe Williams, Max Roach, Bobby McFerrin, Clark Terry, Cab Calloway, Lou Rawls, Savion Glover, Jon Faddis, Kenny Garrett and Roy Hargrove. His new cd features tunes from the American songbook, including Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, and Henry Mancini.
