Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Jakob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Spoon, Buddy Guy and Kings of Leon join the 40th anniversary of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Common doesn't commonly share a bill with Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Jakob Dylan, Joe Cocker, Spoon, Buddy Guy and Kings of Leon, but that's how music rolls at the proudly eclectic New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, marking its 40th anniversary April 24-26 and April 30-May 3.

Three years after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, the storied roots music fest will be at full strength, with roughly 5,000 musicians in 580 groups filling 11 stages over seven days.

“It's all back," says producer/director Quint Davis. “We're New Orleans. We roll along with that indomitability. You can get New Orleans people to do a lot of things, but you can't make them stop dancing."

The celebration of jazz, rock, pop, country, R&B, gospel, blues, Cajun, zydeco and world beat kicks off with hometown hero Wynton Marsalis performing his epic Congo Square, featuring the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Yacub Addy and Odadaa!

Favorite sons the Neville Brothers, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Radiators, Trombone Shorty and Buckwheat Zydeco are on the roster, along with A-listers Erykah Badu, Bonnie Raitt, Dave Matthews Band and Sugarland, plus an exotic array including Kinky, Drive-By Truckers, the Ebony Hillbillies, Trout Fishing in America and Crocodile Gumboot Dancers of South Africa.
