“Guitar virtuosity at its highest level." --DjangoBlog

Long Island-born Frank Vignola breaks down the barriers between popular music and traditional jazz to create a unique acoustic string music experience. His all-virtuoso quintet mixes high-energy original material with unique renditions of contemporary tunes to create a smoking-hot blend of contemporary acoustic rock, gypsy jazz, bluegrass, swing, and blues. The late guitar titan Les Paul named Frank one of the five guitarists he admired most. Frank's new album, “Frank Vignola's Hot Club," is a centennial tribute to one of his guitar heroes, Django Reinhardt, and he's joined on tonight's bill by southeastern Michigan's own band of intrepid gypsy-jazz revivalists, the Hot Club of Detroit!

Jean “Django" Reinhardt (23 January 1910 - 16 May 1953) was a Gypsy jazz guitarist. One of the first prominent European jazz musicians, Reinhardt remains one of the most renowned jazz guitarists. With violinist Stphane Grappelli, he cofounded the Quintette du Hot Club de France, described by critic Thom Jurek[2] as “one of the most original bands in the history of recorded jazz." Reinhardt's most popular compositions have become jazz standards, including “Minor Swing", “Belleville", “Djangology", “Swing '42" and “Nuages" (French for “Clouds"). (Wikipedia)

If Django Reinhardt were alive now, the eight-fingered king of gypsy jazz guitar would be a century old. Frank Vignola pays full-hand tributes on 100 Years of Django.
