About Hank and Frank, Vol. 2
This is the follow-up album to Hank and Frank, which received wide critical acclaim, including a five star rating from Downbeat magazine. Here Hank Jones and Frank Wess take the opportunity to present two lesser known artists: the Russian born, American raised guitarist Ilya Lushtak and the New York cult vocal hero Marion Cowings. Lushtak has been a fixture on the New York jazz scene since 1995, performing and touring with artists such as Barry Harris, Hank Jones, Charles Earland, Mel Rhyne, Frank Wess and Jimmy Cobb. Marion Cowings originally made a name for himself working alongside Jon Hendricks, and has since amassed years of experience performing all over the world. He also made an album for the Emarcy label in the 1980s.
