Got tango? The single most essential figure in the history of tango, Argentina's greatest world music export—bandoneon-composer Astor Piazolla—would approve of your decision to take passage alongside Emilio Solla. Considered one of the foremost tango jazz pianists in the business today, Solla delivers earthy folkloric tango styling arranged within a modern jazz structure. Expect minor key tonality, acoustic instrumentation, catchy hooks, and sweeping accordion improvisations.

Pianist-composer Emilio Solla leads his New York-based quintet to debut its freshman recording Bien Sur along with other compositional gems. Appealing to jazz, classical and world music fans alike, Solla transports us to a musical destination where the structure of post modern jazz delicately embraces the folkloric and modern forms of Argentinean tango. Leading his first band Apertura, Solla's creative vision was praised early in his career by godfather of modern tango composer Astor Piazolla. Today with six CDs under his belt as leader, world tours with pop singers Jorge Sobral, Cecilia Rossetto, Alejandra Martin and Latin jazz talents Paquito D' Rivera, Arturo O' Farrill's Latin Big Band, and Pablo Aslan's Avantango, Solla is considered the foremost genuine tango-jazz voice in the business today.

Emilio Solla (piano) is joined by Chris Cheek (saxophones), Victor Prieto (accordion), Edward Perez (bass), and Richie Barshay (drums/percussion).
