Guitar great Elvin Bishop will headline the 2008 San Francisco Blues Festival on September 27th. The show, a homecoming for the San Francisco resident, will come hot on the heels of his new album, 'The Blues Rolls On' (Delta Groove/Eclecto Groove), set for release on September 23rd. Bishop will perform with The Delta Groove All Star Blues Revue, which includes The Mannish Boys, Mike Zito, and many others.

Since his days with the seminal Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bishop has been a leading ambassador for the blues. He was a regular at legendary San Francisco venue The Fillmore West in the 1960's, where he shared the stage with artists like The Allman Brothers and Jimi Hendrix, and he charted hit singles as a solo artist in the 1970's. 'The Blues Rolls On' harkens back to his roots and features a who's who of blues musicians, including B. B. King, George Thorogood, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, James Cotton, Kim Wilson, Tommy Castro, and others. With 45 years of blues under his belt, Bishop has a distinctive sound marked by what Rolling Stone has described as “careening slide and razor-edged bursts, all delivered with unflagging enthusiasm and wit."
