Master jazz bassist Dylan Taylor’s CD release party at the Painted Bride Arts Center, 230 Vine Street, on Friday December 13th, will celebrate the release of Sweeter for the Struggle, which features guitarist Larry Coryell, a special guest at this event. Jazz Bridge, the region’s non-profit devoted to assisting area jazz and blues musicians in need, will receive 15% of every ticket sold. Tickets are $30, doors open at 7:30 and the show begins at 8 p.m. For advance tickets, visit the Painted Bride. Info: 215-517-8337.

Taylor has assembled an all-star band for this event, including Tom Lawton on piano, drummer Craig McIver, saxophonist Bobby Zankel, trumpeter Bob Meashey and trombonist Steve Tirpak, as well as the legendary Coryell.

A part of the evening’s festivities will be Jazz Bridge’s annual Making a Difference Award ceremony, presented this year to Lovett Hines from the Philadelphia Clef Club of the Performing Arts. Hines will receive the award, which comes with a $250 prize, in recognition of his exemplary devotion to teaching generations of jazz players who are now—or will shortly become—stars of the jazz world.
