Our October DocuClub will take place on Tuesday, October 4, 7 p.m., at DCTV, located at 87 Lafayette (at Walker).

This month, we will screen a rough cut of Finding Carlton by Susheel Kurien. The film tells the story of a bygone age of jazz in India through the moving portrait of one of its last survivors, the bebop guitarist Carlton Kitto. Weaving verite scenes of Carlton's life struggles with archival material and poignant encounters with other artists, the film uncovers an untold story of cultural cross-pollination. Learn more about this film at http://www.findingcarlton.com.

Director/Producer Susheel Kurien worked with film and creative media in India in the late 1970s. He was educated there and has an undergraduate degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. In India, he worked as an advertising copywriter and creative director until he came to New York in 1981. He earned a Masters Degree in Education from Columbia University in 1984, and his work thereafter has included the design of educational software, business-process consulting and Management Consulting with the firm KPMG. He has been a student of jazz guitar for the past five years. Finding Carlton is his first film.
