The highlights of March jazz at Charlie O's include a birthday party for Scott Whitfield on the 10th and a CD Release Party for the Theo Saunders Sextet on the 24th. There are lots of great guests in March.
Friday and Saturday performers appearing with the John Heard Trio (John, Roy McCurdy, Lorca Hart, Andy Langham, Bill Cunliffe) include Julie Kelly on the 4th, Benn Clatworthy on the 5th, Scotty Barnhart on the 11th, Rickey Woodard on the 12th, Janis Mann on the 18th, Thom Rotella on the 19th, Anna Mjoll on the 25th, and Chuck Manning on the 26th . Reservations highly recommended for all of these performances.
The Monday line ups include the Roger Neumann 4tet (Roger, Brian Atkinson, Dave Koonse, Richard Simon) on the 7th, the Steve Huffsteter Quartet on the 14th, the Jim Cox Tri (Jim, John Ferraro, Domenic Genova) on the 21st, and the Jerry Vivino Quartet (Jerry, Mike Merritt, James Wormworth) on the 28th (coming here straight from the Conan Show).
Our Tuesday performances include the Carl Saunders Quartet on the 1st, the Zane Musa Quartet on the 8th, the Luther Hughes Cannonball Coltrane Project (the newest CD is number 2 in the national charts) on the 15th, Brandino and Friends (Brandino, Kamasi Washington, William Artope, Andy Langham, Roy McCurdy) on the 22nd, and the always popular Jimmy Branly Quartet on the 29th. Reservations are necessary for the 22nd and recommended for all other Tuesday performances.
Our Wednesday shows include the Chuck Berghofer Trio (Chuck, Jim Cox, Paul Kreibich) on the 2nd, the Henry Franklin Quartet on the 9th, the CJS Quintet featuring Chuck Johnson and James Smith on the 16th, the Chuck Berghofer Midnight Jazz Band (Chuckm Gary Foster, Joe LaBarbera, Terry Trotter) on the 23rd and the superb Emil Richards Joe Porcaro Quartet featuring Abe Laboriel and David Garfield on the 30th. Reservations recommended for all of these performances.
Our very special Thursday performances in March begin with the VR Smith Sextet (VR, Putter Smith, Gary Foster, Isla Eckinger, Jim Szliagyi, Frank Wilson) on the 3rd, the Scott Whitfield Quintet celebrating Scott's birthday on the 10th, the Bob Sheppard Quartet on the 17th, the Theo Saunders CD Release Party for Intergeneration with Theo's Sextet (Theo, Zane Musa, Chuck Manning, David Dhalsten, Tony Austin, Jeff Littleton) on the 24th, and the fabulous Kate Reid with the John Heard Trio (Kate, vocals, John, Andy Langham, Roy McCurdy) on the 31st. We are already taking reservations for these nights so please call to reserve your spot now.
