A note from Mike Baggetta

Greetings Music Lovers,

I'm very pleased to announce the release of Mike Baggetta's new album Canto. It features 9 etudes for solo prepared guitar and has been released on the new MabnotesMusic label. This album is a new edition, funded entirely through Kickstarter, of a slightly older project, recorded in 2003 at the old Artspace Gallery in Greenfield, MA and mastered by Jon Rosenberg a few months ago. Although a bit of a different direction from Baggetta's current musical endeavors, this collection grants an important view into his work. Blurring the line between composition and Improvisation, Canto is an exploration and reimagining of the ideas of form, melody and texture and is indicative of the route of Baggetta's musical aesthetic.

Touted by guitarist Derek Bailey ("Thank you for letting me hear your CD—I enjoyed it!"), NewMusicBox, the E-zine published by Aaron Copland's American Music Center, features Canto this week (click here).

Physical copies of Canto, complete with original album art by Myron Schiffer and liner notes from Baggetta, can be ordered through Mike Baggetta's website or CD Baby. Digital copies of Canto can be downloaded from CD Baby, eMusic and Amazon MP3. It should be available through iTunes, Rhapsody and several other digital sources in the coming weeks.
