Brooklyn Pianist Landon Knoblock and Philadelphia's Shot X Shot in Williamsburg Monday Jan 4
This Monday Jan. 4, Brooklyn based pianist Landon Knbolock and his band will share a bill with Philadelphia's premier avant jazz group Shot x Shot, at Spike Hill in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
8pm: The Landon Knoblock Group features Ron Horton on trumpet, Noah Preminger on saxophone, Josh Paris on bass, Jeff Davis on drums, and Landon Knoblock on wurly. The group performs unique music combining jazz, avant-garde, rock, and ambient. The music blurs the lines between composition and improvisation, gracefully maintaining an organic musical dialogue. The band has a unique voice that is rooted in the traditions of jazz, but charts it's own course of musical exploration. Donald Elfman at All About Jazz states that [Knoblock's] touch, both at the keyboard and in his sense of structure, is graceful and easy but it takes real work to achieve this kind of mastery." In addition, The New York Times says The pianist Landon Knoblock, from Miami by way of Brooklyn, has quietly been making waves for his reflective and lyrical style."
