Irving, Texas -- Former Irving ISD student and co-founder of The Blue Shoe Project, Michael Dyson, 22, will return to his former school, T.J. Lee Elementary in the Irving Independent School District to share the blues with students on Monday, September 24th at 9:30 a.m. T.J. Lee is located at 1600 Carlisle Street, Irving , Texas 75062.

“It's amazing to see how the kids react to blues music", says Dyson, “When we started The Blue Shoe Project, we had no idea that the blues had such a profound ability to connect with students from all backgrounds." Dyson adds, “It is such an honor to be able to bring this music into the lives of the kids at TJ Lee Elementary School, where I spent kindergarten through 5th grade of my childhood! My 5th grade teacher is still there. I can't wait to see her face!" Dyson later explained that he hopes his efforts with The Blue Shoe Project will inspire other young people to join the non-profit sector and follow their hearts in whatever path they may choose.

Performing for this series of The Blue Shoe Project's “Blue Shoe Blues" elementary education programs will be nationally-recognized blues educator and harmonica master David Berntson of Tulsa, Oklahoma . Mr. Berntson has been performing for students for over 25 years and is also a certified prevention educator and drug and alcohol counselor. Mr. Berntson will take the students of Irving ISD on a journey through the blues with his “Crossroads Learning Experience" program aimed at teaching students life-lessons through musical performance.

The programs are scheduled to run September 24-28 in the Irving Independent School District . Please see page two of this release for a full schedule with addresses to each school.
