Blue Note Records Welcomes Jamie Cullum to the Family

Special NYC shows September 29 to preview his upcoming album INTERLUDE

Also opening for Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden

Blue Note Records is proud to announce that they’ll be the new US home of British jazz star Jamie Cullum and all will have a chance to celebrate together as Blue Note welcomes the celebrated song-writer and musician to New York, where he will give a special sneak preview to his upcoming album INTERLUDE with a pair of intimate shows at The Blue Note Jazz Club on Sept 29. For these shows Cullum will play the album in its entirety with his core band augmented by choice local players so not only will the audience see him in much smaller space than usual, but with a much bigger band to boot! On the other side of intimacy, it’s also been announced that Jamie will be opening for Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden on October 2nd.

INTERLUDE marks a rare focus upon largely straight-ahead jazz and a return to interpretation from an artist who has made a habit of bending genres, writing original material and bringing new sounds and new listeners to the music. Inspired by the music and musicians he’s featured on his award-winning UK jazz radio show over the last few years and his own crate digging tendencies, the album’s twelve tracks avoid cliché with a fistful of less obvious songs from the American songbook along with a couple modern surprises and pair of amazing duet guests in Gregory Porter and Laura Mvula.

Released next month in his native UK via Island Records, the album will be coming in the US from Blue Note later this winter and more details will be forthcoming in the coming weeks.

Monday, Sept 29th: two sets: 8 PM and 10:30 PM

Blue Note Jazz Club
131 W. 3rd Street
