B.J. created his show, “The Jazz Life", to bring audiences to the Next Generation of Jazz Artists, who generally would receive little or no airplay in the United States. The programming format of “The Jazz Life" features 100% of newer content from artists who are still living, performing and active. He also created the show with the goals of educating listeners and refreshing the Jazz Audience at large with younger listeners. “The Jazz Life", is different as compared to other Jazz Radio Shows in the North Jersey Area that feature primarily reissues of artists from the 50's and 60's. B.J. devotes a significant portion of his show weekly to interviewing: Younger, Up-And-Coming and/or Under-Heard Jazz Artists as well as by featuring their albums. Finally, with a live simulcast Web-Stream, Jansen has been able to reach a global audience.
