Announcing a 3-day musical event in Davenport starting on Saturday, November 3.

The young drummer Joshua Duffee and the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society are presenting “Bix and His Gang," a live concert and series of clinics for adults and High School students at area schools.

The featured performers are

Randy Sandke, cornet
John Otto, clarinet
John Allred, trombone
Vince Giordano, bass saxophone
Paul Asaro, piano
Leah Bezin, banjo
Josh Duffee, drums

Josh says, “The idea for this event is to give kids the opportunity to hear Bix's music live and in person, and to educate them on his history and connections with Davenport. Most kids think he's a runner, since that road race takes place the same weekend as the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Festival.

“We'll be going into 6 local schools to perform free clinics and assemblies for local students. At each clinic, each student will receive a packet of educational information pertaining to Bix, His Gang, The Bix Society, The Bix Exhibit at the Putnam Museum in Davenport, and many other items related to Bix.

“There will be a free masterclass for anyone in the Quad City region on Saturday morning, November 3rd, followed by a concert at the Col Ballroom in Davenport at 7:00 PM that same night. Every event is free to anyone 21 and younger, and everyone else pays $10 per person to get into the concert. Everything else is free to everyone. The money raised from ticket sales at the concert will go towards the building and construction of the new Bix Exhibit at the Putnam Museum.

The Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society has raised the money for this event through local fundraising, so all systems are “go" for this incredible Bix-related event. This is a big step for Bix here in Davenport by getting his music into the local schools. We hope to reach over 1,000 kids during this 3-day event."
