This is a reminder that the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize honoring Billy Crystal will air on PBS Monday, November 12 at 9 PM (tonight!). Our band (David Berger & the Sultans of Swing) performed as the house band. This may be the swingingest awards show in decades--and also one of the funniest. Performing with us, besides Billy Crystal, were Robin Williams, Whoopie Goldberg, Danny DeVito, Rob Reiner, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Lovitz, Martin Short, Bob Costas, Barbara Walters and Robert DeNiro. Martin Short sang a tune with us (not jazz, but funny) as did Madeleine Peyroux. You won't want to miss this show. It's one of the few times that the stars are funnier than the cats in the band.

If you are thinking about coming to see us at Birdland, we are off for the next few weeks, but we will doing our special Christmas/Holiday show on December 4th at Birdland, 315 W44th Street (between 8th and 9th Avenues in NYC). Shows are at 8:30 and 11. In addition to some Ellington and non-Ellington jazz, we will be performing selections from our Harlem Nutcracker show.

After Dec. 4, we will be off the rest of Dec. but will be back again in earnest on January 1 for our special New Year's Day party. We'll be playing holiday selections for you Harlem Nutcracker fans.

On the radio front our CD, CHAMPIAN, is being played on jazz stations all over the US. It has also been getting terrific reviews in newspapers, magazines and on the Internet. To listen to clips or purchase a copy, visit our website (link below). The CD is also available at several other download sites.

That's the news for now.

Ever onward and upward,
David Berger
