Bill Warfield is a full time faculty member of the Lehigh University Music Department. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music where he won the Maynard Ferguson Scholarship, the William H. Borden Award for outstanding accomplishment in Jazz/Commercial Music, and the Carmine Caruso Award for Outstanding Trumpet Performance. Mr. Warfield has distinguished himself as a successful musician, performing with such diverse artists as Ornette Coleman, Mel Torme, David Sanborn, Lew Soloff, Mel Lewis, David Liebman and Sonny Stitt. Bill is also a successful bandleader and composer. His own band (the Bill Warfield Big Band) has performed at Birdland, The Blue Note, and is currently in residence at Lehigh University. Mr. Warfield was recently included in the Ira Gitler/Leonard Feather's Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz.
