In addition to these special performances, Deep Listening Institute will be honoring Roscoe Mitchell with the 2009 Deep Listening Golden Ear award. Deep Listening Institute recognizes Mitchell’s astute contributions to the world of music. The Golden Ear award was established in 2007 by Deep Listening Institute founder Pauline Oliveros & artistic director Ione in order to recognize musicians who in their practice are great listeners. Roscoe Mitchell will be the third artist to be honored with this unique award.
The concert is a fundraising event with proceeds going towards the Deep Listening Institute, Ltd. and its ongoing projects. Donors have the opportunity to purchase special VIP tickets at $250 each which includes a cocktail reception and reserved seating. General admission is $100 with advance purchase and $125 at the door. This $100 ticket includes the concerts and afterparty with DJ Olive.
