Big Apple Jazz, Harlem's only jazz day club, welcomes all IAJE participants to New York City. The BAJ family invites everyone to visit us in the historic Harlem neighborhood once known as “The Stroll," home to the Lafayette Theater, Monroe's Uptown House, Pod and Jerry's, Small's Paradise, Connie's Inn, Count Basie's, and the former stomping grounds of Fats Waller, Fletcher Henderson, Louis Armstrong, Florence Mills, Mezz Mezzrow, Eubie Blake, Charlie Parker, Billie Holiday and so many others!

In Big Apple Jazz, you'll find...

Live jazz performance, featuring some of New York's finest musicians. Special programming for I.A.J.E. includes three sets daily from Wednesday, January 10th, to Sunday, January 14th. The performances begin at 2pm, 5:30pm, and 8:30pm. Our open jam session is Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

The largest selection of independent jazz CDs available for sale in New York City. We sell many hard-to-find recordings directly from the artists. Among our selection is one of All About Jazz's 2006 Publisher's Picks, trombonist Rick Parker's Finding Space; Chip White's Harlem Sunset and David Bixler's Call It a Good Deal earned honorable mentions from the same publication. You'll also find Eric Frazier's new CD, In Your Own Time, one of the country's most popular jazz records.

Historic recordings of NYC jazz performances by all your favorite artists. In celebration of the role that NYC has played in jazz history, we carry only CDs and DVDs featuring music recorded live in NYC. So if you're looking for Fats Navarro at Minton's or Dinah Washington at Birdland, you can find them- - and so many more - on our shelves.

A wide variety of items for sale celebrating Harlem jazz, including books, fine art, t-shirts and gifts, including many by local artisans.

A warm, inviting, family-friendly caf environment that will enrich your NYC jazz experience, connecting you to the forgotten past and exposing you to the “insider's" scene! Come visit us at 2236 Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Blvd.(7th Avenue), between 131st and 132nd Streets. By subway, take the B/C or 2/3 trains to 135th Street. Open daily at 10:30am. Live jazz from 2-11pm throughout.
