Berklee Alumni and Faculty Nominated for 23 Grammy Awards

Eighteen Berklee alumni and three faculty members were nominated for a total of 23 GRAMMY Awards by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The nominees were recognized for their outstanding contributions in a variety of categories, including pop, rock, metal, jazz, Latin jazz, hip hop, country music, film scoring, and for achievement in audio engineering/mixing, arranging, and art direction.

The 48th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Staples Center in Los Angeles, and broadcast on CBS at 8:00 p.m. (EST).

The Caribbean Jazz Project Featuring Dave Samuels--which includes Berklee faculty members Samuels, Oscar Stagnaro, and Mark Walker, and alumni Diego Urcola '90, and Dario Eskenazi '88--was nominated in the category Best Latin Jazz Album.

In other jazz categories, Branford Marsalis, '80, and Alan Broadbent '69 were nominated in the category Best Jazz Instrumental Solo, while Luciana Souza '88, and Tierney Sutton, '87, are both up for Best Jazz Vocal Album. Drummer Antonio Sanchez, '97, was nominated for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, for The Way Up by Pat Metheny Group.
