G&J Productions presents A First Time Jazz Masters Duet Featuring Benny Golson and Gene Bertoncini at the Historic Wainwright House, One Performance Only
Two senior masters of jazz, tenor saxophonist and composer Benny Golson and guitarist Gene Bertoncini, will play together for the first time on Sunday, March 6th at noon, for a Sunday Jazz Brunch in Rye, New York at Wainwright House, produced by G&J Productions.
The pairing of two giants of jazz in such an intimate and beautiful setting as the Wainwright mansion in Rye is a rare opportunity for music lovers," says Greg Thomas of G&J Productions. And only a hundred seats or so are available."
For several years Wainwright Housethe oldest non-profit, non-sectarian holistic learning center in the nationhas held Sunday jazz brunches featuring excellent local musicians. For this final winter brunch, the board of Wainwright House selected G&J Productions to bring artists of world renown to perform.
Last October we produced an event in New Rochelle featuring top musicians led by Grammy Award-winning percussionist Bobby Sanabria. We're devoted to bringing the very best cultural events to Westchester," declares Jewel Kinch-Thomas, co-founder of G&J Productions. That's what we've experienced in Manhattan. The delectable menu of food and beverages will be provided by Corner Stone Caterers, based in Rye for 15+ years.
Benny Golson is an internationally famous jazz legenda composer, arranger, lyricist, producer, and tenor saxophonist of world note. He's written numerous standards for the jazz repertoire and has recorded over 30 albums for many recording companies in the United States and Europe under his own name and innumerable ones with other major artists. A prodigious writer, Golson has written well over 300 compositions.
For more than 55 years, Golson has enjoyed an illustrious career in which he's not only made scores of recordings but has also composed and arranged music for: Art Blakey, Count Basie, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Shirley Horn, David Jones and the Monkees, Quincy Jones, Peggy Lee, Carmen McRae, Anita O'Day, Itzhak Perlman, Oscar Peterson, Lou Rawls, Mickey Rooney, Diana Ross, Mel Torme, and George Shearing.
Gene Bertoncini is one of the finest jazz guitarists active today. His fluid technique and lyricism have won him international accolades as the Segovia of Jazz." An eloquent and versatile improviser, Mr. Bertoncini has been heard with an extraordinary range of jazz greats, including performances and recordings with Benny Goodman, Buddy Rich, Wayne Shorter, Hubert Laws, Paul Desmond among others, as well as such distinguished singers as Tony Bennett, Lena Horne, Nancy Wilson, Vic Damone, and Eydie Gorme.

Directions: From I-95, take Exit 19, Playland Parkway. Turn right on to Milton Road and follow it to the end. At the flashing yellow light, turn left on to Stuyvesant Avenue. Proceed 6/10 of a mile, to the iron gates marking the main entrance to Wainwright House.
