Fresh off the release Oceana, his fourth CD as a bandleader, jazz guitarist Ben Monder will perform at the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Friday evening, Nov. 25, as part of the Museum's Art After 5" series. Monder, a musician in the New York area for over 20 years, has performed with a variety of artists, including Jack McDuff, Marc Johnson, and Lee Konitz, and has appeared on over 90 CDs as a sideman. He has also appeared with the Carnegie Hall Jazz Orchestra, and is a regular member of the Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra.
Performing with Monder will be Ben Street on bass and Greg Hutchinson on drums. Performances are presented in two sets: 5:45 - 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 - 8:15 p.m., with guided tours of the galleries offered throughout the evening. A full cash bar and la carte menu of appetizers, light entres and desserts is available with table service in the Great Stair Hall. Admission is $12 for adults, $9 for senior citizens (62 and over); $8 for students with I.D. and children 13-18; children 12 years old and younger are admitted free at all times.
