Telluride Jazz Celebration is currently taking submissions for the festival's 1st Annual Band Contest. The winning band will receive a VIP weekend in Telluride, $500 cash and a performance slot on the main stage at the 35th Anniversary Telluride Jazz Celebration to be held August 5-7, 2011. To submit your band for consideration, please follow the official rules and submit your band's information on the festival website.
Other musicians and bands that you will be playing alongside include Paquito D'Rivera, Allen Toussaint, Clayton Brothers, Rita Coolidge, The Bad Plus, Badi Assad, Melvin Taylor, Alex Brown, March 4th Marching Band with many more to be announced soon.
All bands must submit original music in MP3 and video format to be considered although the winner may play originals and covers during their set. Entries must be received by 11:59pm MST on February 21, 2011. Ten finalists will be chosen by the Telluride Society for Jazz and the public voting period will commence on March 3, 2011.
