Nine unique music artists share their sounds and style in national Spring/Summer ads starting February 17

Banana Republic has assembled a talented, multicultural group of music artists to celebrate the richness of city life in a new spring/summer campaign called CITY STORIES, launching nationwide Feb. 17. The campaign features nine diverse musicians, including Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Sara Bareilles, alt rock/pop darling Liz Phair, and acclaimed pop/rock band OK Go. Styled by George Cortina and photographed by Tom Munro, the artists gathered in one of everybody's favorite cities, New York City, and were photographed wearing Banana Republic apparel and accessories, along with one favorite accessory their instrument. The other artists whose images will grace billboards and print ads in major cities over the next few months campaign include Latin Grammy-nominee singer/songwriter/producer Tommy Torres, Grammy-winning jazz saxophonist David Sanchez, internationally-acclaimed acoustic soul star Ayo, Dashboard Confessionals singer/songwriter Chris Carrabba, emerging jazz bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding, and young classical violinist David Garrett.

Behind-the-scenes interviews with the musicians will be available for viewing as of Feb. 17 on Banana Republic's Web site, along with unplugged performances, free music downloads and streaming music samples from our artists.

A special album featuring one song by each artist will be available to Banana Republic shoppers who purchase an item from 2/17-2/26. Each customer will receive an iTunes download card good for the redemption of the entire 9-song album. The album includes previously unreleased tracks, current singles and classic hits by all nine artists in the campaign.

Banana Republic celebrates the launch of the campaign with three in-store performances in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco on Thursday, February 26th. Open to Banana Republic's VIP customers, these events feature jazz saxophonist David Sanchez at New York's Rockefeller Center Store, Tommy Torres performing in the 3rd Street Promenades location in Santa Monica, and violinist David Garrett in San Francisco's flagship store on Grant Street near Union Square. More details will be available soon.

From March 1 through June 31, Banana Republic's City Stories will be available on RED, Virgin Americas in-flight entertainment system, as the first-ever branded channel. Every passenger will get a glimpse of the campaign featuring our musicians, their interviews and unplugged performances, music videos and Banana Republic's Spring/Summer 2009 runway show.
