FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Philadelphia, PA-This February, Philadelphia's jazz community will at last have a central, comprehensive source for news, features and information. AllAboutJazz-Philadelphia, a monthly, tabloid-style publication devoted to local and international coverage, hopes to fill a longstanding void in the city. Drawing on Philadelphia's bustling live scene and rich historical tradition, AllAboutJazz-Philadelphia will both fortify and expand this already vibrant community.

AllAboutJazz-Philadelphia is the first of several planned print-offshoots of AllAboutJazz.com, the web's premier jazz site. Since its inception in 1996, AllAboutJazz.com has been one of the leading jazz resources on the web. It has received “best of the web" designations from the New York Times, L.A. Times, Wall Street Journal, Time Magazine and the BBC. Each month, AAJ provides hundreds of reviews, streaming media, artist profiles, news, interviews, feature columns, jazz festival and concert coverage, discussion topics and more.

Publisher Michael Ricci, CEO of AllAboutJazz.com, sees AAJ-Philadelphia as “a great opportunity to galvanize the entire jazz community and provide coverage of happenings not just in Center City, but beyond: to North Philadelphia, Germantown, and the suburbs." Managing Editor Nathaniel Friedman, whose writing on jazz has appeared in The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Weekly, and Jazziz Magazine, is excited by “the chance to get Philly jazz folk involved-as contributors, interviewees, guest editors-to make sure it bears the distinctive stamp of our city's scene."

In addition to top-flight features and interviews, AAJ-Philadelphia will sport artwork by illustrator Jacob Weinstein, whose graphic novel Dirty Boxes won acclaim in the Philadelphia Weekly. Weinstein also plans to serialize a new, music-related strip for the paper.
