Café Oto, London, Saturday 12 October and Sunday 13 October.

In 2011, the inaugural As Alike as Trees festival was held at The Rag Factory near Brick Lane in London. Organised by drummer Eddie Prevost, saxophonist David O'Connor and violinist Jennifer Allum, it drew from the pool of musicians who had been participants, alumni or sympathisers of the weekly improvisation workshop run by Prévost since 1999. In addition to such musicians, the festival also featured AMM, the French ensemble HUBBUB and Pascal Battus.

As a celebration of improvised music, that festival was a great success so it was surprising when it did not happen again in 2012. Now comes the news that in October 2013 it is returning, not at The Rag Factory but at Cafe Oto, a venue with which the workshop has had a long and productive relationship. As before, at four sessions over two days, workshop participants will make up the majority of the programme, again joined by some close musical allies and friends...
