Brooklyn, NY - Latin Jazz virtuoso Arturo O’Farrill and South American Jazz vocalist Claudia Acuna are pleased to announce the release of their first album together. Arturo O’Farrill who is most known as the leader of the Chico O’Farrill Orchestra, The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and former Director of Latin Jazz at Lincoln Center has paired with South American vocalist and instrumentalist Claudia Acuna on an album that is sure to strike a chord at the very musical foundations of Latin Jazz.

Claudia whose voice has been compared to Brazilian singer Astrud Gilberto (that sultry voice from The Girl From Ipanema) offers her vibrantly creative styling to create a symbiotic musical pairing with piano virtuoso Arturo to create a musical project that truly breaks some of the barriers of Latin Jazz and truly makes the listener feel this music as true “world” music.

Great friendships are born out of a combination of many things: admiration, a sense of camaraderie, similar humor even. Sometimes one feels a common purpose with those whom one chooses as co-conspirators in the battle of life. All of these elements and more are at play in the relationship of Claudia Acuña and Arturo O'Farrill. But at the foundation of this interaction is the childlike wonder that these two have creating music together. It is as if the bandstand is some sort of sandbox in which these friends could while away the hours endlessly.

There have always been creative projects based on friendship and mutual admiration, Ella and Louis, Celia and Tito, Machito and Graciela, even George and Gracie, always laughing, always singing, always finding joy watching your friend do what he or she does best. And, Claudia and Arturo are no different.

Even though the album was released on September 9th 2008, it is already receiving great reviews and accolades from all over the world. Is a tour forthcoming? The streets of New York, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires are all abuzz with anticipation.

You are cordially invited to take a listen to an album that is most likely the beginning of a musical pairing that will last for years to come and go down in Jazz history as a true classic, as well as, a creative friendship that will generate music that is pleasing to the ear, the soul, and might even make you dance a little!
